Here're the videos from our Dodgeball competition.
Fantastic performance guys!
And now, for the much anticipated, much awaited, eagerly fought over, highly-prized videos of the century. The Amazing Win. Shot lovingly in high-quality Nokia N93i format by the unknown director, and distilled onto this online portal by the masked poster, available for viewing for the first time ever:
The day began with the JBJ-ians warming up with a bit of a cheer practice:
The first attempt was, a bit disjointed. But the second one:
Was good.
Now, we should actually be having a song item here, but due to technical errors in recording, the file that resulted was too large to be posted here. We'll need to fix that. In the meantime, the race was about to begin:
Somehow, the cute twin terrors - Jeremiah and Joel seem to always get in the way of the camera. Check out the hot car Jeremiah's posing in front of.
The race proper was on, and we were given the amazing task of making amazing pigs. Check this video out:
Folks, it's not as easy as it looks. Them pigs can be tough little critters to nail down, and even with Mr. Sunday School himself "Steven Yam" in our team, the Bible conundrums were insanely difficult (right Steven?). But, we won. And here's the ending video to prove it:
Kudos James. Let's go all the way!
Your regular editor wasn't around last weekend to be part of the Olympics, so here's a quick report from our guest writer and Assistant Deputy Commander, Sook Kuan.
But first, 41 people! That's unbeatable. It's better than winning, it's more important than scoring. Give yourselves a pat.
We have not received any videos or photos to put up, but will do that soon. But while we're waiting, check out Assistant Commander Cyrus, who best sums up what's Group James up to right now:
And now, on to Sook Kuan's report:
Under the scorching sun with no sea breeze, the James and the rest of the youth groups marched towards the land of Chin’s field. Opening by Kayson who was last year’s marathon runner and unfortunately, won by him again this year. Then the marathon race oi out. From our team for male marathon we have Mr. Tiong King and for female marathon, we have Ms. Ang Irene. We salute to both of you. Indeed this event is the hardest among the other events. Persevere till the end!!!
Not forgetting James’ Deputy
Commander, Ang Jocelyn who won the 100m… girl oiwer!!! Then for the golfing,
James won!! 4x100m for female we won!!! Hurdles female we won!!! Girl oi-wer
indeed…sorry guys. Try harder next time.
Then we have our Petra version of street captain ball with 4 guys and 3 gals. The 1st match was against group Stephen. They are indeed super in their power and but yet we are super as well in our James Oi spirit even though we did not win this match. Next, against Andrew. Hahaha… this time we won and again they too have the spirit!!! Go Andrew! After the two matches, we did not give up although everyone is already exhausted. Our sports manager, Cyrus Liew, say we should Oi all the way. So we did and there goes our last match with team Peter. It was a close fight but thanks to Sammo on behalf of Peter, they won’t this match.
From the land of Chin’s field we marched back (in cars) to Petra. This was the height of the Olympic. Cheerleading!!! Oi! Oi! Oi! All groups danced and cheered well. Group James was the last group to perform and the best saves for the last. With the unity in our cheer and synchronization of our dance, our cheerleading team really rocks our church. The ultra-violet lights were amazing and we danced with our white shirts glowing. We emerged as 1st runner-up for cheerleading and overall with Peter as the champion for cheerleading and overall.
Well done everyone! Here we would
want to take this opportunity to thank Tiong King (marathon and brought
7friends), Thai Yang (brought 5friends), Bee Wan, Irina, Siew Mei, Shet Yee, Shueh-Yi, Lydia
Sim, Iviane, Lynn, Irene, Wai Kit, Tiong Tung, Jeremiah, Joel, and Kar Fai.
Thank you for your participations and support to the group.
Not forgetting all the commanders and committees for James, thank you. And this is especially for Wai Yee, thank you for volunteering to be a good watergirl.
Without any of you guys here, it
won’t be group James. Oi!

Hey,
Here's some pretty cool vids from our last group outing last Saturday. Basically, it's about everyone's favourite topic again - Food! We went to this place near the Cheras roundabout called Payathin and had all manner of Chinese food. How interesting! Here's what the JBJ folks have to say:
Hey guys and girls,
It's time to show your mettle! That means, we gotta show how tough, how fast, how strong, how clever we are to the rest of the Pee-Why-Pee! That's right, it's Petra Olympics time. First things first, here's the deal:
When? 10 February 2007, Saturday
What time? 3:00 p.m.
Where? Petra Gospel Centre, Taman Kencana - in Cheras]
What to where? Sports clothes, and BLUE T-shirt. Even better, your JBJ T-Shirt.
So what exactly is Petra Olympics? It's the time where we run a good race (tha'ts 100m, 400m relay, 110m hurdles), demonstrate pin-point precision (that's golf), top-notch strategy and teamwork (street basketball) and our favourite - lot's and lot's of team spirit! (Cheerleading)
In fact, this year, our team spirit is so boiling hot that we've already put together some nifty moves. Check this out:
Of course, then compare that to this... the pros...we're better right?
So, see you at Petra Olympics 2007. Be there, or be...errr... missing out on all the fun.
Once a year, all the leaders of PYP will get away to a secret meeting at a secret place. This year, we snuck a full 30 people into two apartments in the heart of KL to have one and a half day of praying and planning and... EATING.
Okay, actually the eating part comes last. But on the last day, us leaders will have some nice makan together. You know, the kind of, fellowship over food kind of thing? Here's a video report capturing this very event as it happens.
First, we stroll down Jalan Bukit Bintang towards our headed destination - Jalan Alor:
It took quite a while for the leaders to decide what food to have. For some reason, deciding where to eat seems to be the most difficult task. But then, once again, superwoman Wai Yee comes to the rescue. This Penang girl seems to know the makan places of KL even better than us KL folk.
So we settled at a shop:
And placed our orders. The shop was your tradiitonal fare, but it seems everyone was going for the pork noodles. This is the noodle where you have swine intestines and gizzards and such being made into soup to go with the noodles.
Drinks came first and we were having a bit of a banter. These guitar guys came up and started playing and singing a song. They were pretty good singers - talent scouts should really come down to Jalan Alor. That's where all the singing talent is in Malaysia! Of course, I didn't dare to record them for fear of getting my camera snatched and thrown down. You know how these stars are these days.
After much waiting, we finally received our food. It was fantastically delicious. Nyam Nyam.
So, members, what do you learn? The lesson is that you've got to work hard, serve hard so that one day you can become a committee member and go for leader's retreat too. And have nice food. Remember, that's the goal!
Happy serving!
Here's a message from our leader: wear BLUE on Saturday, or be prepared to get some pretty muscular arms:
This is actual live footage taken last weekend at the JBJ meeting just before PYP. Don't ask how we got our hands on the video, just know that we actually did. Now, not to scare you away, but BLUE is the official colour of the group want to ensure that you actually wear BLUE every week. We're sure that's not a problem right?
Also, as part of the group's efforts to get people to wear blue, rumor has it that an official JBJ T-Shirt will be designed and manufactured. Early leaked photos of the T-shirt design had the design looking like this:
Early comments from insiders seem to indicate that the logo might change and that the yellow would be replaced with white (how cool is that?) An expected retail price is not yet determined, but sources confirm that this will be expected to sell at a premium as only a very limited quantity of about 30 pieces will be produced, ever. Still, it's not too late for feedback, and if you have any, send them over to james.brotherofjesus@gmail.com or post it here.
We'll get you more news as it happens on the latest, PAINT IT BLUE campaign. Till then, remember to wear BLUE this Saturday for the Winter Olympics 2007.
Christmas has come and gone, real quickly too. In just three days, we had our Christmas Party, Christmas Carolling, Christmas Day Service and Christmas Night Outreach. All POWER!
Do you feel the POWER?
Anyway, here are some pictures and videos to share:
This one you gotta hear: our singing is not so pitch perfect?
Yo, wassup?
